Taking a step ahead, NTPC on 21 May 2018, announced the launch of its first project of \u201cGirl Empowerment Mission\u201d campaign to empower girl child in and around Vindhyachal, Singrauli and Rihand projects. The objective of the campaign is to make young girls around NTPC projects empowered and educated in best possible way.<\/p>\n<p>Through this unique strategic CSR initiative and to support the cause of Girl Child, NTPC aims to make every girl aware about essential education, health and self-defence programs. There are 137 girls of Vindhyachal, 125 from Singrauli and 130 from Rihand participating in a four-week Residential Workshop in the respective Employee Development Centres. The children participating in the development programme are in the age group of 10-12 years from the areas located in and around the NTPC plants.<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s time, it is essential for the education system to enhance and empower girl child in developing social, emotional and thinking skills. The \u2018Girl Empowerment Mission\u2019 (GEM) initiative by NTPC reinforces its commitment and belief under their broader Corporate Social Responsibility. Under this initiative, the girls will have tailor-made programmes covering basic communication skills in Hindi &amp; English and elementary education in Maths, hygiene &amp; nutrition, yoga and sports. To develop their social skills talks on gender diversity issues, group activities, movie screening on social issues, cyber safety, music, dance, theatre etc. will be organised.<\/p>\n<p>Through this programme, NTPC aims at dispelling the misconceptions surrounding female foeticide across rural India and create a room for the children to showcase their talents and capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>NTPC as a part of the social responsibility has already been running and supporting several programs for the wellbeing of the society including empowerment of women, in various age brackets residing in neighbourhood of its plants.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May 24, 2018 Kolkata -NTPC, India\u2019s largest power generating company, has always been at the forefront in uplifting the lives of women and girl child and help them become self-reliant.
