\nDr Batra\u2019s Multi-Specialty Homeopathy once again highlights the strides taken by homeopathy in India, propels the country\u2019s progress in research and development in Homeopathy to new heights.
\nThe paper authored by Dr. Akshay Batra, Former President of The Trichological Society, London (UK), Fellow in Homeopathic Dermatology (MUHS) and Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of Dr Batra\u2019s group of companies, was accepted and well received at the prestigious 73rd Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis (LHMI) conference in Cape Town.
\nBringing light to the plight of patients suffering from Psoriasis, the paper highlights how Psoriasis ranks as high as cancer or diabetes in terms of the negative impact on the quality of life. Insights from a sample size of 8000+ people across the globe show that patients suffering from psoriasis experience discrimination and humiliation. Its impact is that 54% feel that Psoriasis has affected their work life, 43% feel that it has affected their relationships and 38% have been diagnosed to be suffering from a psychological conditions. It was inferred that psoriasis affects more than just skin. It can be a heavy physical, social, emotional and economic burden on a person\u2019s life. When treated with conventional medication, it added more stress and depression. On the other hand, homeopathy helps identify underlying triggers and treats ailments from the root for a more holistic healing. It is therefore considered a safe and long-term solution for psoriasis. Dr. Akshay Batra understood the need to validate how homeopathy improves a patient\u2019s HRQL (Health-Related Quality of Life) by reducing stress, building confidence and alleviating depression and anxiety; no research has ever been done to understand this. He therefore undertook a study on a sample of patients suffering from psoriasis in the age group of 10 \u2013 60 years. The subjects were from selected cases across five cities of India from various ethnicities and selected cases that have completed 12 months of homeopathic treatment. Through a questionnaire based upon the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) that was put to the sample before and after treatment, it was determined that their HRQL improved after treatment, irrespective of the type and severity of the disorder.
\nPsoriasis is a chronic skin disorder that results in red, thickened patches on the skin, with the shedding of silvery scales. The condition may be accompanied by discomfort, itching and\/or pain. Psoriasis is considered to be an auto-immune condition in which the immune cells of the body mistakenly attack the body\u2019s own skin cells. This triggers an abnormal response, resulting in a rapid growth of cells, which leads to thickened skin, inflammation and even bleeding.
\nCommenting on the paper presented at the LMHI conference in Cape Town, Dr. Akshay Batra, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Batra\u2019s Group of Companies and Fellow in Homeopathic Dermatology, said, \u201cWith our experience in Homeopathy, we have treated over 3,00,000 people suffering from skin disorders including Psoriasis and have a 94.3% success rate as authenticated by the American Quality Assessors. We therefore firmly believe that for over 100million people suffering from Psoriasis globally, homeopathy definitely offers a safe and long term solution. In fact, if we give a patient an emotional score card of the results of improved health-related quality of life, it would lead to better patient satisfaction.\u201d
