\"DSC_0653\"<\/a>\u00a0Vinay Bharadwaj, a 32-year-old Singapore-based investment banker-cum-designer decided to launch a YouTube based talk show, Let\u2019s talk with Vinay, a talk show with celebrities.<\/span><\/div>\n

When Vinay Bharadwaj lost his mother to urinary bladder cancer, he did anything but go into a shell. \u201cI felt shattered. But I knew there could be so many more like me that could be saved by the right information and not brushing it off the table,\u201d he says. Vinay acknowledged his privilege as a Singapore-based investment banker and a designer, who had the money and the means. \u201cBut it was in my power to put that to good use.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Trailer of the Chennai edition of the show, which was recently launched, saw the participation of celebrities like Sudha Raghunathan, Nina Reddy and Sam Paul. A series of 19 interviews were shot in a span of eight days and six others were shot at a later stage. \u201cThe show will be aired from July and I am sure that this will create an impact,\u201d shared Vinay who has already hosted a successful series in Bengaluru.<\/span><\/div>\n

\"DSC_0644\"<\/a>Why a talk show? \u201cI think who better to talk about this with than celebrities? When we get them involved, I feel like people will listen more,\u201d he points out. He didn\u2019t start with a fat phone book or plenty strings to pull. A \u201cyes\u201d from Vasundara Das gave the Bengaluru edition of his talk show the push it needed. \u201cAfter that, it was a heady few months of calls between work breaks, endless numbers and notes and mails and \u201cI\u2019ll get back to you\u2019s.\u201d Biocon Chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw decided to sponsor him, and producing the show got a lot smoother after.<\/span><\/div>\n

In Bengaluru, he hosted everyone from Puneeth Rajkumar, Pranitha Subhash, Nirup Bhandari and Radhika Chetan, singers like Raghu Dixit and Vasundhara Das to athletes including Ashwini Nachappa, Ashwini Ponappa, KL Rahul, Vidya Pillai and Pankaj Advani. Other popular personalities like Prasad Bidapa, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Sundeep Rao, Rubi Chakravarthi, Dr Ajai Kumar, Sunita Dhairyam, Anna Chandy and Mayuri Upadhyay were also on board.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Chennai was destination deux. \u201cThe incidences are higher here, but so is the awareness. People in Chennai are far more conscious of having the conversation too,\u201d he says. So who\u2019s on the list here?\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cHosting felt natural. I had nothing particularly prepared and had zero experience. But to get them to open up and see them emotional, completely sink into their comfort zone, was amazing to witness. Because a subject like this can touch the most sensitive part of you,\u201d he says. Neerja Malik, the two time survivor of Cancer summed it up best. “Replace the word ‘fight’ with ‘face’.”\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Giving a message to everyone, he says, \u201cDon\u2019t take cancer lightly. Early detection is the key to saving someone\u2019s life. I want this message to reach everyone across the globe.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
