Unified sports around the world creating new waves, creating opportunity for people without intellectual disabilities to join the world of sports, experience by playing on a team with regular players. This would notonly eliminate the difference between a regular player and paralympic (differently abled) players, but also would create a change in the attitude within players& people alike, making transformation on the playing field to create lifelong friendship and partnership between regular & differently abled.<\/p>\n

\"img_9053\"<\/a>Unified Chennai Badminton League (UCBL) is one such effort to create awareness on unified sports in the city, provide opportunity to showcase the talent of paralympic badminton players to play as partners with regular players. For the badminton and sports lovers, UCBL going to gift a memory of life-time watching it first in the city. The badminton league is supported by Tamilnadu Paralympic Association. UCBL has 16 teams<\/strong> comprising of 32 players<\/strong>, of which 16 paralympic pro players & 16 regular pro players<\/strong> from across the state viz, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tutucorin, Salem, Vellore, teaming up. Each team is owned & sponsored by various corporate houses in the city.<\/p>\n

\"img_9124\"<\/a>Rotary Club of United Chennai takes immense pleasure in organizing UCBL as a part of their \u2018Think Sports\u2019 initiative. The fund raised through this is used for various social projects of the club such as sports training & sports equipment supply to underprivileged students from government run schools & colleges. Last year around this time, we organized Chennai\u2019s first \u2013All Woman Bowlathon (ten-pin bowling tournament) spread across 3 days at Phoenix Market City, Chennai which received appreciation from people and covered by Main stream Newspaper and news Channel.<\/p>\n

UCBL Chairman Rtn. Suresh Manoharan<\/strong> has said, it would host prominent personalities, ministers, sports authority officials and officials from Tamilnaduparalympic association at the prize distribution ceremony. About 500 plus viewers are expected on the day, and the entry is Free for all.<\/p>\n

Recently, he secured two gold medals from National Championship held in Panchkula, Chandigarh.<\/p>\n
