He was rushed to the nearby SRM Hospital for treatment. The patient was declared \u2018brain dead\u2019today (<span data-term=\"goog_1374121933\">11-04-2017<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>The family members of the brain dead patient, even at the hour of extreme grief, magnanimously came forward to donate his organs, so that others can live and he too will continue to exist in this world by giving life to them.Meanwhile a patient admitted at the Gleneagles Global Health City, here in Chennai, and was awaiting a suitable heart for transplantation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Kattankulathur to Perumbakkam <span data-term=\"goog_1374121934\">in 35 minutes<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The transplant team at Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai, under Dr Govini Balasubramani &#8211; Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic and Heart &amp; Lung Transplant Surgeon, rushed to Kattankulathur early this morning to assess the suitability of the heart for transplantation. Once the cross-match of the heart was established by the expert team, the organ was retrieved and was brought to Gleneagles Global Health City in Perumbakkam.<\/p>\n<p>The ambulance carrying the donated heart left from SRM hospital at <span data-term=\"goog_1374121935\">12:30 pm<\/span> and reached Gleneagles Global Health City at exactly 1:05 pm covering a distance of over 30 kms in just 35 minutes.
