The national level conference on vitreo retina management was inaugurated by <strong>Thiru Radha Krishnan IAS, Principal Secretary to Tami Nadu Government Health &amp; Family Welfare Department<\/strong> in the presence of <strong>Prof. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr Agarwal\u2019s Group of Eye Hospital and Program Director \u2013RETICON 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now in its 7<sup>th<\/sup> year, the conference witnessed doctors sharing best practices, research and innovations in the field of vitreo retina disorder management. Around 300- 400 doctors from across the country participating in this yearly conference.<\/p>\n<p>Retinal disorders are on the rise in the country. In fact, it accounts for 10-12% of the eye disorders in the country. However, the effective management is still a concern calling for increasing research in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the gathering, <strong>Prof. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr. Agarwal\u2019sGroup of Eye Hospital and Program Director \u2013 Reticon, <\/strong>said, \u201cThrough Reticon, we not only want to provide an opportunity for knowledge sharing, but also to prepare our practitioners to be better equipped in their fight against curable blindness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apart from scientific presentation, the event witnessed discussions on a multitude of topics ranging from cataract to retinopathy of prematurity, macular surgeries made simple with 27 G vitrectomy, management of coexisting cataract with diabetic retinopathy, retinal Detachment in CMV Retinitis etc.\u00a0 The conference also had presentations by Dr. Rahul Khurana, Partner, Northern California Retina Vitreous Associates, Mt. View, CA, USA, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, University of San Francisco, CA, San Francisco, CA, USA and Editor in Chief, American Academy of Ophthalmology Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE) Network on retinal disorder management.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the conference organized an interesting competition called Ophthalmic Premier League (OPL), wherein 4 teams of surgeon; each team of 4 members will present their interesting and challenging surgical videos which are judged by the referees.
