Till now, Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has only skinny services in case of \u2018Ladies Special Buses\u2019.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Ladies special buses were first gestured off in the late \u201960s for hauling the transport of women college students. To differentiate it from other buses, the buses bear a red and white board and painted with red. Today, the count of college-going and working women has increased but the number of MTC ladies special buses has descended.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Amid 16 ladies special buses in the city, only one bus services \u2013 Route number 18 A from Tambaram to Broadway actually ply in the city, stated by the sources from the MTC depots. Lack of ladies special buses brings in a boon for van operators transporting working women and share auto rickshaws during the peak rushing hours.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Senior MTC officials said that today, buses function as ladies specials during peak hours. But it is only a one-way service.
