Chennai, 29th<\/sup>\u00a0December,\u00a02017<\/b>: Heart and Lungs from CMC Vellore was transported to Chennai today for transplant at Fortis Malar Hospital in Adyar. The organ was transferred\u00a0in 141 minutes<\/span><\/span>\u00a0through an exclusive green corridor.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

21 year old Balaji from Vellore was declared brain dead today morning after a road accident on 27th<\/sup>\u00a0December 2017.\u00a0A potential organ alert was received by the team at Fortis Malar early in the morning today. A team of doctors from Fortis Malar were sent to CMC, Vellore for assessment of the organ.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Post preliminary assessment\u00a0and with family\u2019s consent both the lungs and the heart were harvested and allocated to Fortis Malar. The organ started at\u00a05:32 PM<\/span><\/span>\u00a0from Vellore towards Chennai and reached the hospital by\u00a07:49 PM.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0The recipient of the heart is a 55-year old male who was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy and the lungs has been allocated to a 52 yrs old female suffering from end stage bronchitis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
