Chennai, 6th February 2018: The second edition of Olympia OMR RUN organized by Rotary club of Chennai Upscale (RCCU) was flagged off with great fanfare on 4th February 2018.<\/p>\n

The venue at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology was painted yellow. Enthusiastic runners in yellow Tees were raring to go at 6 am. Over 7000 runners were part of this Run for a Cause.<\/p>\n

The mantra for the event was \u201cIt\u2019s not how well you run\u2026 It\u2019s why you run\u201d. This was very evident from the eclectic mix of participants — young, old and even kids.<\/p>\n

Early morning was gearing up to a great race with Zumba dance warming up the runners. A team of physiotherapists helped the participants with stretching, highly essential before a long distance run.<\/p>\n

The 10 km run was the first to begin at 6 am. Rotary District Governor of RI Dist. 3232
\nMr. R. Srinivasan, Mr.Chandrakant Kankaria, Managing Director, Olympia Group and
\nDr. Mrs. Mariazeena Johnson, Pro-Chancellor, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology flagged off the 10 km run at the 2nd edition of Olympia OMR Run 2018. 5 km and 3 km followed suit. Sufficient water points and first aid facilities were in place. RCCU had taken enough care to collect the plastic water bottles thrown by the runners to maintain the track and the environment clean.<\/p>\n

Some ran like professionals, while some walked their course to show their support to the cause. Participants were assisted to warm down with Zumba and stretching. Live entertainment with thrill acts, varied percussions of India made the Sunday morning a memorable day.<\/p>\n

The proceeds of this fundraiser will go to brighten the lives of many deprived children with the light of education.<\/p>\n

The funds raised will enable Rotary Club of Chennai Upscale to intensify their endeavours. The adopted AdiDravida Welfare Schools could go up from 3 in days to come. E-Learning facilities in every classroom will get a fillip. Teachers will be trained even better. The periodical eye checkup camps, sanitation and vocational training programs will get on fast track and reach more beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

Rotary International also actively participated with their global initiative End Polio Now. Rotary International has championed this cause since Indian independence and has enabled our nation and many others to get rid of Polio and it\u2019s disadvantages from our children\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n
