Urinary Incontinence usually occurs due to increased intra-abdominal pressure such as Pregnancy, Pulmonary disease (smokers cough), Constipation (straining), Lifting at work or home, Exercise and Obesity to mention a few. Urinary Incontinence is a common condition that is rarely life threatening but is one of the major causes of embarrassment and anxiety among the female population of our country and has adverse effects on their quality of life. Urinary Incontinence is often the source of shame, embarrassment, depression, worry, feeling old and of self-imposed social exclusion. Even coughing, sneezing, laughing or a little physical effort can be a cause for worry as they can provoke a leak or dribbling. Looking for toilets becomes a constant preoccupation.Even the WHO recognizes incontinence as an international health concern as 70% of patients do not seek professional help due to the combination of embarrassment and the belief that Urinary Incontinence is a natural consequence of ageing and childbirth.

CECURA is a 24X7 state-of-the-art Uro-gynecology unit in a tertiary care hospital setting manned by a team of experts equipped to handle any and every kind of Uro-gynecology problems. CECURA looks at enhancing the self-esteem of women through a holistic approach to continence. CECURA will inculcate confidence in continence as the first line of intervention as it is recommended to be the least invasive in nature, such as the case in pelvic muscle exercises, which will improve quality of life and help women gain self-efficacy. CECURA will also provide a comprehensive care (surgical and non-surgical) and solutions to all females who need assistance such as 24×7 experts on call to handle any and every complication, a dedicated pelvic muscle strengthening exercise unit, bladder control training, dietary counselling and medical management all under one roof.

“Incontinence can shake someone’s self-confidence and cause them to pull away from their social and personal relationships. Discussing leakage issues with a partner can be difficult and often leave one feeling too embarrassed to share their feelings, fears, and frustrations. It is not surprising then that it has been called the silent epidemic. We hope that this message spreads across the country to physicians and general practitioners who will be better equipped to guide or treat patients more efficiently as they are usually the first line of treatment for many patients especially in smaller towns and cities.” Added Dr. Meera Ragavan.

Mr. Ramesh Krishnan, CEO – India Operations Division, Parkway Pantai, said “As a responsible service provider in the private healthcare space, Gleneagles has always had it as a part of its strategy to impart awareness in socially sensitive but important aspects of community wellbeing.
