A puzzling case lands in Chezhiyan’s (Prajin Padmanabhan) hands when he learns about Karthika (Ivana Varun), a young girl plagued by misfortune. Each time her wedding is finalized, the prospective groom dies in strange, unexplained ways.
Haunted by these incidents, she’s certain she’s ill-fated and avoids romance and marriage altogether. In the course of solving her case, Chezhiyan falls in love with her, leading them to decide on marriage together. What becomes of him? Is he now in danger too? Who is the murderer behind these deaths? And what chilling secret does he expose?
The movie is a gripping psychological investigative thriller that keeps you on edge with constant suspense until the very end, and it really pays off. Its standout elements include the shocking secret revealed, multiple twists, an unpredictable climax, and a powerful social message.
The strong ensemble cast is another major strength. Prajin looks sharp as the clean-shaven cop and fully delivers in his role. Ivana Varun makes an impressive debut with a standout performance, particularly in the climax. She shines in the musical sequences and shares great chemistry with Prajin. Anupama Kumar’s cameo adds extra depth.
Music Director Hari SR delivers a good soundtrack, complemented by striking visuals. The screenplay moves at a brisk, engaging pace, which helps the film. That said, the first half suffers from an overload of wordy scenes that feel repetitive and make it tough to keep up with the references. The frequent close-ups could have been cut down. On the whole, it’s a suspenseful thriller elevated by neat performances, smart twists, emotion, an unpredictable finale, and a strong social takeaway.
“Andharan” movie is a captivating mystery thriller powered by solid performances, compelling storytelling, and an engrossing atmosphere. While the pacing stumbles slightly at times, it delivers plenty of suspense and emotional weight to justify a trip to the theater. A smartly made thriller that holds onto its mystery right up to the final reveal.
