Beyond Frontiers Trust to focus on remote tribal communities by building sustained specialist healthcare access
The Chennai-based not-for-profit brings doctors, hospitals, diagnostics, technology, donors and communities together to take healthcare beyond distance.
CHENNAI, AUGUST 5, 2026 — Beyond Frontiers Trust (BFT), a registered, non-profit and non-religious organisation working to extend specialist healthcare to underserved tribal and rural communities, was formally introduced today at the MMA Management Centre in Chennai.
Founded by senior physician Dr. S. C. Chandilya, BFT began its work in the Jawadhu Hills, where distance, difficult terrain and limited transport have kept many Adivasi communities beyond the practical reach of specialist care. Over the course of 18 free specialist medical camps, the Trust has touched approximately 4,000 lives and treated people from 150 villages. Its work combines screening and early diagnosis with medicines, referrals, health records, follow-up consultations and continuing care.
“Our vision is to provide ethical, wholesome medical diagnosis and specialised treatment to underserved tribal communities and the underprivileged in rural Tamil Nadu. The challenge is not only to reach villages across rugged mountains and valleys, but to identify treatable conditions early, connect people to the healthcare system and help them lead healthier, longer lives,” said Dr. S. C. Chandilya, Founder, Beyond Frontiers Trust.
Beyond Frontiers Trust focuses particularly on the early detection and management of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, polyarthritis and asthma, together with screening for cervical and breast cancers. Health education on anaemia, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene is integrated into its medical outreach.
The launch was graced by Dr. Shobana Kamineni, Promoter Director, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. & Executive Chairperson, Apollo Health Co. Ltd., as Chief Guest. Ms. Jayshree Muralidharan, IAS (Retd.), Chairman, Srinivasan Services Trust, and Mr. Swaran Singh, IAS (Retd.), Chairman, TVS Cheema Scholarship Foundation, were the Guests of Honour.
